Position Description

Marshfield Medical Center, the Marshfield Clinic Health System flagship hospital, cares for patients from throughout central, northern and western Wisconsin. Marshfield Medical Center offers primary, secondary, tertiary and Level II Trauma Center hospital services provided by Marshfield Clinic specialists. The facility hosts nearly 40 specialties including cancer, heart and orthopedics care, as well as a 24-bed Children's Hospital equipped with the latest technology and highly-trained hospitalists and nurses providing nearly 30 pediatric specialty services, including: child abuse-neglect, gastroenterology, pediatric intensive care, neonatology, and surgery. Access to a Level II Trauma Center, ensures 24-hour availability of anesthesiologists, dedicated medical equipment, operating room facilities, physician specialists, surgeons, and trauma nurses.

The Nurse Manager-Hospital coordinates, directs and manages the twenty-four hour delivery of optimal patient care within an assigned area of a Marshfield Clinic Health Systems hospital.  This role is responsible for the recruitment and retention of the frontline patient care staff and for guiding and leading our nurses to provide the best patient care services in accordance with the organizational goals and initiatives.  This role interactively works with physician and allied provider staff on their unit(s) with the goal of best patient outcomes and patient satisfaction.

Requires:

  • Bachelor’s degree in nursing, business administration, healthcare administration or other healthcare related field or an Associate degree/Diploma in registered nursing, Associate degree in business administration, or Associate degree in healthcare An Associate/Diploma degree requires the obtaining of a bachelor’s degree in nursing, business administration, healthcare administration or other healthcare related field within three years of starting in the position.  An annual evaluation of coursework completed towards their bachelor’s degree will be required
  • Master’s degree in nursing, business administration, healthcare administration or other healthcare related field preferred
  • Three years leadership experience; or two years leadership experience with a master’s degree
  • Four years of management experience in a healthcare field preferred
  • Current State of Wisconsin Registered Nurse License or Nurse Compact License
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification awarded by the American Heart Association (AHA) within three months of hire; at time of hire preferred
